Sooyoung is set to co-host the MMTG (formerly known as Moon Myung Special) '2009 Hit Song Championship'.
According to OSEN, Sooyoung recently completed filming for the first revamped program of MMTG, which is a new initiative following the rebranding from Moon Myung Special.
In this upcoming 'Hit Song Championship', Sooyoung will join JaeJae as a co-host. The program, involving K-pop fans from 24 countries and members of the championship organizing committee, aims to select the top 10 national treasure-class hit songs of South Korea. This marks the first major project by MMTG after its rebranding from the popular Moon Myung Special, which gained attention for segments like 'Hidden Gem Songs' and 'Comeback-worthy Songs'.
The 'Hit Song Championship' will focus on 2009, considered a golden era of K-pop. The show has reportedly sparked heated debates in the quest to determine the best hit song of that year, compared to the anticipation surrounding the Paris Olympics.
Furthermore, '2009 Hit Song Championship' will not only be available on the MMTG YouTube channel but also as a Lunar New Year special broadcast. The program is scheduled to be pre-released on the MMTG YouTube channel on February 1st, followed by a TV broadcast on February 11th at 3:35 PM KST.
Meanwhile, 'Moon Myung Special' has been a Studio161 (formerly SBS Digital News Lab Creative Business Division) original series since 2018. With the motto "Spread the New Civilization", it has been at the forefront as 'the first new media program on terrestrial TV' and 'the first YouTube content to be scheduled on mainstream TV platforms', spotlighting new civilizations and trending personalities.
In 2020, the 'Hidden Gem Songs' series started a trend, leading to its first terrestrial TV (SBS) scheduling as a new media channel, attracting the MZ generation to legacy media. The follow-up 'Comeback-worthy Songs' series in 2021 also made it to TV, achieving a high viewership of 3.8% and ranking first in weekly buzz.
Oh this will be fun!!!
