YG Entertainment announced on the 10th that actor Lee Sung Kyung donated 100 million won to Dankook University Hospital in December of the previous year.
This generous donation came as a response to Lee Sung Kyung's role in the SBS drama 'Dr. Romantic 3'. In the series, she portrayed Cha Eun Jae, a thoracic surgeon specializing in trauma at Doldam Hospital Regional Trauma Center, leaving a lasting impression with her performance.
Explaining her motivation behind the donation, Lee Sung Kyung expressed, "Through my involvement in a medical drama, I developed an interest in trauma care, an essential aspect of medical services. I wanted to indirectly experience the reality of trauma care in Korea and contribute in a small way to the advancement of the medical field, particularly in saving trauma patients."
The funds donated by Lee Sung Kyung will be utilized to enhance and expand the medical infrastructure of the regional trauma center at Dankook University Hospital. This facility plays a critical role in performing emergency surgeries and providing treatment to severe trauma patients in the South Chungcheong region.
Lee Sung Kyung has a history of actively engaging in charitable activities. She has contributed to disaster relief efforts for situations like COVID-19, forest fires, and floods, as well as initiatives supporting single mothers, low-income families, underprivileged children, and children with cancer. Additionally, she has donated proceeds from her original soundtrack (OST) music, demonstrating her commitment to various forms of social contribution.
