BLACKPINK's Jennie appeared on KBS 2TV's highly anticipated music talk show 'The Seasons - Lee Hyori's Red Carpet,' which finally aired on January 5.
On this day, Lee Hyori introduced Jennie, saying, "I also wanted to see her smile." Jennie appeared on the stage and performed her solo track "You&Me" for the first time on a television broadcast.
Jennie extended her heartfelt sentiments by presenting Lee Hyori with a large bouquet of flowers accompanied by a letter. As Lee Hyori read the letter, she found words from Jennie expressing joy at meeting her eternal idol and conveying warm wishes for a healthy and joyful new year. The exchange was a touching moment of admiration and well wishes.
Lee Hyori then recalled a past encounter with Jennie in a broadcast waiting room hallway. Jennie shyly asked, "Do you remember when you touched my cheek back then?" Lee Hyori replied, "I remember. It was a cheek I couldn't resist touching. Thinking about it now, touching a stranger's cheek was rude." Jennie expressed delight, saying, "I couldn't sleep that night because your greeting made me so happy."
Lee Hyori playfully commented, "The soft touch of Jennie's cheek...I'm a bit perverted, right? Sorry. I still remember that sensation." Jennie revealed her fan feelings, saying, "I came out with real courage to become close to Hyori unnie." Lee Hyori responded, "You've misunderstood; I'm shy as well. Expressing your shyness, as Jennie does, is a healthier approach. That very shyness serves as your greatest shield, Jennie." She laughed and added, "Did I sound too much like Dr. Oh Eun Young?"
Jennie also sang a cover of Lee Hyori's "Miss Korea" and proposed a duet with Lee Hyori. Lee Hyori replied, "If you sing first, I'll join in if I can." The performance of Jennie's version of "'Miss Korea" began, and Lee Hyori joined in for the last part, creating a more touching stage.
Lee Hyori then talked about Jennie recruiting her to her new agency 'ODD ATELIER.' Lee Hyori told Jennie, "My contract with Antenna ends in February, so keep an eye on me. Please give me support for a bit," subtly expressing her interest in considering Jennie's agency once her contract with Antenna ends.
Lee Hyori was being kind and didn't want to embarrass Jennie on camera. Why would she go from an established agency like Antenna to a startup? Even if she doesn't renew her contract, she's going to sign with an agency that can actually maintain her career.
