TVXQ's Yunho and Changmin garnered much attention as they opened up about when they first returned as a duo following the departure of the three members - Jaejoong, Junsu, and Yoochun.
On December 26, TVXQ held a press conference at the Conrad Hotel in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, to commemorate the release of their ninth studio album '20&2.'
On this day, the two members shared their candid thoughts on the emotional journey of making a comeback as a duo following the departure of the three members. Debuting in December 2003 with their first single, "Hug," TVXQ originally consisted of five members - Yunho, Changmin, Jaejoong, Junsu, and Yoochun. The group gained immense popularity immediately after their debut.
However, in 2009, members Jaejoong, Junsu, and Yoochun filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment, citing unfair contract conditions. As a result, only Yunho and Changmin remained with SM Entertainment and returned as a duo.
Reflecting back on the 20 years of TVXQ, Changmin chose the SM TOWN concert in 2010 as the most memorable moment. Changmin explained that it was the time when TVXQ officially announced their return as a two-member group.
He shared, "It was a performance in which we got to stand in front of our fans for the first time in a long time. And it was meaningful in various ways. It was a moment where I felt the overwhelming honor of being able to stand in front of fans but also felt scared to perform in front of them."
TVXQ, who debuted on December 26, 2003, marked their 20th anniversary with the release of their 9th studio album '20&2' at 6 PM on December 26, 2023. This album is their first in about five years, following the special album 'New Chapter #2: The Truth of Love,' released in December 2018.
It was due to JyJs valiantly speaking up and standing up for themselves and other idols that slave contracts are somewhat better. S.K loves their greedy companies afterall. I have so much respect for Jaejoong and Junsu even after being unfairly blacklisted they have persevered. They are so talented too...
