BLACKPINK JISOO's solo debut has emerged as one of the most successful solo launches by a K-pop/Korean artist, as she consistently breaks new records and widens her existing ones across major music platforms
Now, her solo song "FLOWER" is the most-streamed song by a K-pop Act on YouTube Music in 2023 with 801 Million plays.
YouTube Music is a music streaming service that replaced Google Play Music, Google's previous music streaming service, in 2018. YouTube Music allows users to listen to official songs, audios, albums, artist radio, live versions of songs, as well as watch music videos and dance practices.
On the other hand, "Flower" MV has surpassed 442 Million views on YouTube, rising to fourth place among the most viewed music videos by Korean soloists of all time on the platform, achieving this feat less than 9 months after being launched. The Korean soloists with the most viewed songs on YouTube now consist of the trinity: PSY, Jennie and Jisoo.
Additionally, BLACKPINK JISOO's "FLOWER" has remained within the TOP 5 Most-Viewed Music Videos on YouTube by Female Artists in 2023 still competing against "Flowers" by Miley Cyrus, "Music Sessions 53" by Shakira in collaboration with Bizarrap and "TQG" by Karol G featuring Shakira.
Congratulations to BLACKPINK's JISOO!
This charts shows us that the streaming culture is still more powerful, even tho not as much as in the past (peaking around 2018, 2019), than the organic streaming. With genuinely popular songs like Queencard, OMG, and especially Cupid being totally outnumbered in streams by a mediocre song that you might find in a b-side position in Hyuna or Chungha's albums
