The Korean entertainment industry and diverse communities are continuing to mourn the untimely passing of actor Lee Sun Gyun.

Earlier, the actor underwent a thorough investigation over allegations of drug use. Throughout the inquiry, Lee Sun Gyun consistently asserted his innocence, disclosing that he had been subjected to blackmail.

Despite his claims, law enforcement continued interrogating Lee Sun Gyun, and the media continued exposing details of the actor's personal life. This included the publication of private phone conversations with an entertainment establishment manager who alleged that Lee Sun Gyun had engaged in drug use at her residence.

In the latest update on the late Lee Sun Gyun's case, a woman in her 20s who extorted millions of KRW from the late Lee Sun Gyun through blackmail was caught by the police after she attempted to flee.

Then, on December 29, an online community post gave an extensive explanation of the whole blackmail case.

According to the post, 'A,' the woman in her 20s who blackmailed Lee Sun Gyun, was best friends with Kim, the entertainment establishment madam who allegedly had an affair with Lee Sun Gyun.

'A' and Kim's paths crossed behind bars; 'A' was serving time for fraud while Kim was incarcerated for drug use. In that unlikely place, they forged a deep bond. After their release, they lived in the same apartment complex. It was during this time that Kim, now employed at an entertainment venue, confided in 'A' about a new romance with a celebrity.

'A' accessed Kim's phone, forwarding photos and Kakaotalk conversations between Kim and a celebrity to 'A's own Telegram account. Subsequently, 'A' anonymously threatened Kim via Telegram, purporting that the phone had been hacked, and demanded 100 million KRW (77,254 USD) from Kim.

Kim told Lee Sun Gyun that she was being threatened. Since Kim would not be able to meet with Lee Sun Gyun anymore, and she would no longer be receiving any more sponsorship money from him, she tells him she's being threatened with 300 million KRW (~231,745 USD).

Unaware that her best friend 'A' is the one anonymously extorting her via Telegram, Kim turns to 'A' for advice. In response, 'A' cunningly advises Kim to comply with the blackmailer's demands and send the money.

Fearing for her safety, Kim requests to live with 'A,' expressing her fear of being alone. While living with 'A,' she eventually uncovers the truth that 'A' is the one threatening her. Once Kim secures the 300 million KRW from Lee Sun Gyun, she withholds the funds from 'A' and flees, taking the money with her.

'A' subsequently reaches out directly to Lee Sun Gyun, wielding the contact logs between him and Kim as leverage. She demands 200 million KRW (~154,303.22 USD), threatening to expose his relationship with Kim unless he pays up. This tactic results in 'A' successfully extorting 50 million KRW (~38,624 USD) from him. It is then that Lee Sun Gyun realizes Kim deceived him and extorted money from him.

'A' then goes to the police and the media with all the phone logs between Kim and Lee Sun Gyun. All the private logs and conversations between Kim and Lee Sun Gyun were leaked by 'A.'
