On December 5 KST, ADOR, the agency representing the group NewJeans, took decisive steps against malicious comments. In an announcement made through the fan community, ADOR stated, "While we initially allowed all live comments to encourage open communication with NewJeans, due to instances of malicious comments, we have decided to restrict live comments to subscribed members only going forward."
The agency further revealed, "We have been pursuing legal action against various offenses, including malicious defamation, insults, and the spread of false information related to New Jeans, stemming from malicious comments." They added, "Our commitment to the protection and improvement of New Jeans remains unwavering. We are dedicated to ensuring that our fans can continue to enjoy using Phoning (fan community app) without disruption."
Recently, NewJeans members Minji and Hyein engaged with fans through live broadcasts. During the broadcast, Hyein expressed her shock at some of the comments, stating, "This is too much." Minji promptly responded by saying, "Take a screenshot".
Hyein then asked Minji, "Unnie, did you remember that person's ID? That comment was really mean." Minji reassured Hyein by confirming that she had taken a screenshot, providing solace to fans. In response to these occurrences, ADOR swiftly took action, including implementing restrictions on live broadcast comments.
NewJeans, a group comprised entirely of teenagers, has been subjected to an ongoing barrage of negative comments since their debut. These malicious comments, often containing unfounded rumors and slander, particularly targeted the group's underage members. In response, ADOR issued a stern warning, asserting, "We will take legal action against malicious defamation, the dissemination of false information, and character assassination. There will be no leniency or compromise in such cases."
Furthermore, Adore has repeatedly announced its commitment to taking firm measures against malicious posts regarding NewJeans, including actions related to defamation, insults, sexual harassment, false information, and malicious slander.
