The broadcast details for the final episode of the drama 'My Dearest' have been disclosed.
Per the official homepage of MBC's Friday-Saturday drama 'My Dearest,' information regarding the final episode was made public on November 17. According to the 'My Dearest' production team, the final episode, set to air on November 18, will be broadcast at the earlier time of 9:30 PM, which is 20 minutes ahead of the originally scheduled time.
Furthermore, this final episode will have an extended runtime of 100 minutes. Initially, 'My Dearest' was planned as a 20-episode series, divided into 10 episodes for Part 1 and 10 episodes for Part 2. However, the decision to add an extra episode was made due to the drama's popularity.
The production team mentioned that the filming for 'My Dearest' is scheduled to continue until the early hours of November 18, coinciding with the final episode's release. Such "live shooting" practices were common in the past but have become rare since the implementation of a maximum 52-hour workweek for staff.
The urgency on the set is attributed to the recent decision to extend the series by one episode, made just a week ago. The historical drama genre's demanding production requirements, which involve lengthy filming, also contributed to the situation.
Nam Goong Min shared on Instagram that he was still filming on November 17, just one day before the final episode.
Meanwhile, 'My Dearest' is a human historical melodrama that portrays the love and resilience of individuals entangled in the turmoil of illness and societal upheaval. It depicts the story of hope amid the love and hardships of lovers amid the turbulent period of the Qing invasion of Joseon.
100 minutes?! That's a heck of a long time.
