Male K-pop Idols who became successful soloists after Leaving Their Groups

AKP STAFF

The journey from being a part of a successful idol group to establishing oneself as a thriving solo artist is no small feat. While group dynamics can provide a solid foundation for an artist's career, some male idols have managed to shine even brighter on their own.

Let’s delve into five popular male K-pop idols who became successful soloists after leaving their groups.

B.I

After departing from iKON, the former leader B.I has successfully embarked on a thriving solo career. Renowned for his exceptional songwriting and producing skills, B.I showcases his artistic prowess in his solo works like “illa illa” and “BTBT,” which have garnered millions of streams, solidifying his status as a soloist to be reckoned with.

KANG DANIEL

After the disbandment of the popular project boy group Wanna One, Kang Daniel embarked on a solo journey that quickly gained momentum. His debut solo album, "Color on Me," topped the charts, and he continued to impress with subsequent releases like "TOUCHIN’'" and "PARANOIA."

DAWN

DAWN, formerly known as E'Dawn, embarked on a remarkable solo career in 2019 with the digital single “Money.” He is a former member of the boy group PENTAGON and the co-ed group Triple H. His solo endeavors demonstrated his prowess as a singer and highlighted his skills as a songwriter, producer, and performer.

WONHO

Wonho, a former member of MONSTA X, went solo after leaving the group. Following his departure, Wonho faced various challenges, including controversies, but he demonstrated resilience and determination. In 2020, he returned to the music scene with his solo debut album, "Love Synonym Pt.1: Right for Me."

JAY PARK

Since he departed from 2PM, the former leader Jay Park has experienced a remarkable ascent as a solo artist. Park quickly gained recognition for his distinctive musical style, blending hip-hop, R&B, and pop influences. His album "New Breed," released in 2012, was a critical and commercial success, solidifying his position as a soloist.

The transition from being a group member to a soloist is challenging, but these male idols have navigated the journey with grace and talent and successfully established themselves as solo artists.
