The unfolding drug scandal involving South Korean celebrities in the entertainment industry has taken an unexpected turn, particularly with the extensive coverage of the case involving G-Dragon.
Approximately two weeks ago, reports emerged that G-Dragon had been booked on suspicions of drug use. In response, G-Dragon promptly released an official statement through his legal representative, vehemently denying all allegations of drug use.
Taking a proactive stance, on November 6, G-Dragon voluntarily presented himself at the Nonyeon Police Station in Incheon for questioning and cleared the preliminary drug test. Despite his cooperation, Korean news media outlets have been relentless in their continuous reporting and updates on the artist's drug case since the initial allegations surfaced. Many news outlets criticized G-Dragon despite the lack of evidence for his alleged drug use.
The most recent reports even suggested that G-Dragon had allegedly removed all body hair except from his head, potentially tampering with evidence. However, G-Dragon refuted these claims through his legal representative, stating, "The reports of him shaving his entire body are completely untrue. Furthermore, the court rejected this case due to a lack of evidence, and consequently, no search and seizure warrant related to hair has been issued."
Following these reports, one K-netizen took to a popular online community to summarize G-Dragon's drug case and refute the recent false reports by journalists.
The netizen wrote,
"1) No dyeing or bleaching has been done in the past one year and five months.
2) Nowadays, even if you bleach, you get caught.
3) The report about his full-body hair removal is groundless.
4) After being booked, he didn't remove any hair at all, even grew his nails on his fingers and toes.
5) Obtained evidence such as 100 strands of hair, nails, and private body hair.
6) Besides leg hair, there is a lot of evidence, so leg hair collection is unnecessary.
7) Tabloid media publishes an article about omitting leg hairs to stir the public.
8) G-Dragon, angered, issues an official statement saying he will even hand in his leg hair.
9) The police confirm that the omission of leg hair is not tampering with evidence.
10) The initial reporting media immediately issues a 'correction report.'"
K-netizens joined the online community and also expressed their frustration about all the false reports made about G-Dragon.
They commented, "G-Dragon has approached the investigation with sincerity, even presenting himself voluntarily, without even grooming his eyebrows or trimming his nails. Why are they tormenting him with such fake news?" "Why does G-Dragon have to keep clarifying these things? Is it difficult for journalists not to write articles that are not true? Is it all about getting views, and that's it? if they publish a correction article does it fix things? He has been subjected to groundless attacks for days with false stories. Isn't this a violation of journalistic ethics? This is abuse," "It seems like the journalists are out of their minds. Seriously, they're crazy," "G-Dragon is also human...leave him alone," "Why else? they want to manipulate the media," and " continuously publishing false articles about private matters that tarnish one's reputation is truly repugnant. It seems like they already know it's not about drugs. If not, they wouldn't keep writing these shoddy articles. If they had evidence, they could write an article, but since they don't, it seems like they're trying to obscure the issue."
