Yoo Seung Joon has reportedly won a lawsuit to return to Korea for the first time in 21 years.
The former K-pop star has been fighting in the court system to win his right to enter South Korea after being banned in 2002. That year, Yoo Seung Joon was set to serve as a public service worker to fulfill his mandatory military service, but he avoided military service by obtaining US citizenship. He then became the only person ever to be banned from South Korea for acquiring foreign citizenship. Afterwards, he attempted to enter Korea with an overseas Korean entry visa but was blocked.
On November 30, the 3rd Division of the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Yoo Seung Joon in his appeal trial lawsuit against the Consul General in Los Angeles. The lawsuit calls for the Consul General to cancel the refusal to issue a passport and visa to the former star. The LA Consulate General previously refused to issue Yoo Seung Joon's visa even after his Supreme Court win, and Yoo Seung Joon filed a second lawsuit. In the second trial, the first trial's ruling to prevent Yoo Seung Joon from entering Korea was overturned, but the South Korean government disagreed and immediately appealed the decision.
However, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, and Yoo Seung Joon won the case. As the ruling in Yoo Seung Joon's favor was confirmed by the Supreme Court, the government may issue a visa to him in accordance with the court ruling. If he is issued a visa, it'll mark the first time in 21 years Yoo Seung Joon will be allowed to return to South Korea.

He was supposed to be a public service worker. Jeez, you would have thought he would be sent into marines, navy or the skull thingy, some serious military training. I don't know why would you even want to go back to the country that banned you. Your face is known to everyone and you are a public disgrace by being the only person banned from your country. I would be so embarrassed to go back honestly.
