An American entertainment media outlet faced criticism from fans after mistakenly posting a photo of BTS's Jimin (real name Park Jimin) in an article about news regarding a French film.
According to AFP News on November 16, the American media outlet Deadline used a photo of BTS's Jimin in an article about the 'Révélations' event, where the French César Academy annually announces 32 emerging actors. In reality, the person included in the list was actress Park Jimin, who played the lead role in the French film 'Return to Seoul.'
BTS fans noticed this and quickly pointed out that Deadline accurately wrote Park Jimin as a female in the article but used a photo of Jimin from BTS.
One user on social media X commented on Deadline's mistake, saying, "It took me only 1 second to search for the cast of 'Return to Seoul' on Google. Especially when you don't know much about the artist you're writing about, make it a habit to search."
Additional users have retweeted Deadline's post, expressing their discontent and directing criticism for the error.
Meanwhile, 'Return to Seoul' is a film directed by Cambodian-French director Davy Chou, featuring Park Jimin, a second-generation Korean immigrant in France. In the movie, actress Park Jimin plays the role of a 25-year-old woman who was adopted by a French family and returned to Korea to find her birth parents.
The film was invited to the 'Un Certain Regard' section at the Cannes Film Festival last year and was a preliminary nominee for the International Feature Film category at this year's Academy Awards.
It was definitely intended. Now everyone knows about their movie
