Actor Kim Nam Gil set to return to 'The Fiery Priest 2' to reprise starring role

On November 29 KST, it was reported that Kim Nam Gil has finalized discussions with the production company to reprise his role as Kim Hae Il, the main character in 'The Fiery Priest 2', a sequel to his previous hit. In recent interviews, Kim Nam Gil has expressed his eagerness to return to 'The Fiery Priest 2'.

'The Fiery Priest' centers around a fiery Catholic priest and a dedicated detective from Gudam Police Station who join forces to solve a murder case. The series, which originally aired in 2019, gained widespread popularity and achieved a peak viewership rating of 22%. Kim Nam Gil received the grand prize in acting for his role in the show.

Preparations for 'The Fiery Priest 2' have already commenced, with plans to release it next year. Scriptwriting is currently in progress, and the second season is expected to consist of 12 episodes.

Viewers can anticipate the return of 'The Fiery Priest 2' in the second half of the year, provided filming starts in the first half of the next year. At the latest, it is expected to premiere in 2025, marking a return after approximately five years since the announcement of the second season following the success of 'The Fiery Priest' Season 1.
