Joy News 24, an entertainment and economic media outlet, recently celebrated its 19th anniversary. In honor of their anniversary, the magazine conducted a comprehensive survey of the most outstanding variety shows, films, actors, singers, and more, from 2023. The survey was completed by 200 entertainment industry professionals, including broadcasting company employees, film and TV content producers, as well as notable entertainment reporters.

In 2023, the globally renowned musical group NewJeans, rose to prominent recognition for their artistic contributions. Since their debut just over a year ago, the group has rapidly become a force to reckon with in both the domestic and international music scene. Their debut song, "Hype Boy," has remained popular since its release last year, while other releases like "Ditto," "OMG, "Super Shy," and "ETA" have cemented their status as favorites. 

In the poll for 'Artist of the Year' NewJeans dominated and secured an impressive 112 out of 200 votes, signifying their immense popularity among industry professionals. 

"Super Shy," the standout track from their 2nd mini-album 'Get Up,' has achieved over 200 million streams on Spotify within 60 days of its release, further evidence of the group's growing appeal. NewJeans debut album 'New Jeans' also recently surpassed the 1 Billion streaming mark on Spotify. Their popularity has helped increase their fan-base tremendously domestically and internationally, setting historical records for a 4th generation K-pop girl group.

BTS member Jungkook follows closely behind, being recognized for his successful solo debut despite the group's hiatus due to military service. He secured the second-place spot, receiving 23 votes, while BTS as a group ranked third with 15 votes.

IVE came in at 4th place with 16 votes. IVE has also been gaining much popularity this year with tracks such as "Kitsch," "I AM," and "Baddy." Lim Young Woong, who has been leading South Korea's trot boom, came in 5th place with 9 votes in total.

In an unexpected turn of events, "Hype Boy," one of NewJeans' debut songs released in 2022, bagged the title of '2023's Best Song.' This is the first time a song from the previous year has been selected since Joy News 24 has been conducting their annual survey, thereby cementing the song's enduring appeal among listeners. Holding the majority of the votes in the 'Song of the Year' category, "Hype Boy" has amassed over 400 million streams on Spotify and received a Platinum certification from the RIAJ (Recording Industry Association of Japan).

NewJean's "Hype Boy" received 74 votes out of the 200 respondents, securing over a third of the votes. "Hype Boy" was not the only NewJeans track to make the list. "Ditto," "Super Shy," and "ETA" also ranked in the TOP 10, with "Ditto" securing second place with 26 votes, "Super Shy" in 5th place with 8 votes, and "ETA" ranked 9th place with 6 votes, respectively.

Meanwhile, BTS's Jungkook's solo hit track, "Seven," ranked third in the 'Song of the Year' category with 17 votes. The song not only topped the Billboard 'Hot 100' chart but also maintained a high level of global popularity. Younha's "Event Horizon" came in at 4th place with 12 votes. IVE's "I AM" and "After Like" also received 8 votes and came in at 5th place alongside "Super Shy." FIFTY FIFTY's unexpected breakout hit "Cupid" came in next with 7 votes, then NewJeans' "ETA" came in 9th place, followed by Seventeen BSS's "Fighting" in 10th place.
