SHINee's Key recently confessed and candidly talked about his burnout recently.
On October 6, Key appeared as a special guest on 'Jo Hyun Ah's Thursday Night' YouTube talk show. On this day, Jo Hyun Ah and Key candidly talked about their careers and also promoting as artists.
Jo Hyun Ah pointed out, "You're very sharp and keen, right? You're that insightful style. Your type of person is good at 'Producing.' Don't you have a 'Key Line'?" Key responded, "Not yet. I didn't really make those 'lines' but idols who get public attention have aspects of my character." When Jo Hyun Ah agreed and said, "Yeah! Key character! Like who?"
Key shared, "People like Seunghee. There will be a time when she'll get chosen by all people." Jo Hyun Ah added, "She really had a hard time when she came. She is going through something like a burnout."
Jo Hyun Ah asked Key if he goes through burnout, and he explained, "That period is when you have to rest. Right now is that time for me. It's not like I want to rest, but when there's work, you need resting periods too. But the company has an annual schedule, right? So, within that plan, if I decide to delay my solo 2nd mini-album, then it has to be released the following year. Well, that decision is on me. So it could be released next year. As a human Kim Ki Bum, I can release it next year. But how can I wait until next year? So I just ended up releasing it. But after this, I have to really take a break."
He confessed that if his song was not an easy-to-listen-to song but an intense track, it would have been difficult for him to promote this time.
Key also shared his concerns and explained, "I'm so busy that I fear that I won't be able to go back to my daily life. In the middle of the year...I never experienced this before...while filming, I told my manager that I don't think I could do it. I said that and I got on the elevator...and tears started to come out so much even when nothing sad happened. So I think it wasn't blaming someone or something. I think the threshold within myself was pushed to the limit. I cried like that and went home. And the next day, I was fine."
Key explained that he thinks he has grown tired because of his busy schedule, but he fears that he won't be able to adjust to a mundane life where he is less busy.
Burnout. When the treadmill keeps going and there isn't any way to get off it, because things have been promised and if you don't do it, it doesn't get done. Then you fall off anyway, because there's nothing left, and you just can't.
.
I really hope he gets a break, because it's like an elastic band stretched over its limit, it will go back, but it's never quite the same as before, and nowhere near as strong.
