K-netizens are in tears over the kindness of one K-Pop artist, who has finally decided to break a long-standing tradition by providing fans with chairs for a mini fan meeting.
As many of you know, mini fan meetings are a traditional part of the K-Pop experience within Korea. They typically take place after an artist wraps up a recording for a weekend music program. It's an event exclusively for the fans who showed up to watch the artist's performance in the audience that day, and they receive gifts and a chance to see their idol up-close.
For as long as anyone can remember, fans were typically asked to exit music programs in an orderly fashion, arrive at the designated outdoor location for the mini fan meeting, and sit on the ground in rows, waiting until their artists were ready to greet them.
Then, on October 20, one K-Pop artist finally decided to provide chairs for the fans attending her mini fan meeting, virtually for the first time ever!
The artist was none other than Sunmi, who just returned recently with the release of her new single, "Stranger".
In addition, the K-Pop idol prepared adorable gifts including a portable lantern, throw blankets, and photocards for her beloved Miya-ne.
K-netizens commented,
"Chairs at an outdoor mini fan meeting..?? Am I dreaming..??"
"As expected, Sunmi challenges everything."
"Chairs!!!! At a mini fan meeting!!!! What I'd give for that TTTT."
"I'm not joking, this is the first time I've ever seen any artist set up chairs for the fans at a mini fan meeting."
"The throw blanket and the lamp TT. Such sensible gifts when it's starting to really get chilly TTTT."
"I have been a fan of K-Pop for over 20 years, and I have never come across a mini fan meeting with chairs set up for the fans... this is so unbelievable."
"Sunmi is the G.O.A.T!"
"Her fans are the luckiest in the world TT."
the blanket is so cute. so sweet of sunmi. i have a feeling she paid out of her own pocket too, since no company would spend this kind of resource for a mini fanmeet on the streets basically
