As famous celebrities have recently been booked on drug charges, some politicians have raised questions and statements, saying, “Someone may have planned it.” It is said that the current regime intentionally brought up the issue to divert the public's attention.
On the 26th, Minseok Ahn, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, appeared on YTN radio's 'News King' and said, "They say 'politics is the art of timing,' but if you're not an idiot, someone could have planned it intentionally." He added “Previous regimes have the experience of covering up so-called issues by using celebrities’ drugs when the regime is at a disadvantage.”
Ahn said: "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration is now facing the biggest crisis since taking office as it lost the by-election for the Gangseo-gu mayor," and added, "Aren't celebrities like Lee Sun-kyun and G-Dragon the most representative celebrities in Korea in a regime crisis?" He also said, "I think it may not be a coincidence that the crisis and the celebrity drug issue are breaking out at this time." And "isn't it that G-Dragon's drug scandal were intentionally spread recently in order to cover up the misdeeds of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration?".
Prior to this, on the 21st, Lee Kyung, a full-time deputy spokesperson for the Democratic Party, posted a similar message on his Facebook page, saying, “Are you trying to cover it up with an article about celebrity drugs?” and wrote, “It’s strange.”
Deputy Spokesperson Lee said, “Secretary Kim Seung-hee’s daughter was a perpetrator of school violence and inflicted nine weeks of injuries. He also said, “We are holding President Yoon Seok-yeol responsible...” and added, “These articles are being covered by ‘alleged drug use by actor Lee Sun-kyun."
However, On the 26th, during a comprehensive audit of government affairs by the Legislation and Judiciary Committee of the National Assembly, Minister Han responded to People Power Party lawmaker Cho Soo-jin's question about whether Democratic Party lawmaker Ahn Min-seok's claims have any basis, saying, "Drugs don't know politics. That's like a disease."
I'm glad some politicians spoke up. I think we all suspected it
