The omission of Dokdo from TREASURE's map of their upcoming Japan tour has angered Korean netizens.
On an online forum, Korean netizens are expressing disappointment after Dokdo, a set of islands contested by Korea and Japan, was omitted from a map displayed during the group's announcement of the '2024 TREASURE TOUR [REBOOT] in Japan.' This announcement occurred during their fan meeting, 'Hello Again,' in Tokyo.
The map, utilized to disclose the respective cities on the tour itinerary, failed to show Dokdo. The islands have been a focal point of a long-standing diplomatic disagreement between Korea and Japan revolving around ownership. Most of the netizens are blaming YG Entertainment, TREASURE's label, for this controversial exclusion.
Reactions include:
"YG, just become a Japanese company if you're gonna be like this"
"This doesn't even surprise me that much anymore"
"I can't believe that they have the audacity to display a freaking map like this without the islands..."
"I saw online someone calling TREASURE 'my japanese boygroup'...I guess they are correct"
"I feel bad for TREASURE"
"I wonder why the TREASURE members are staying silent over this. We'll see"
"I think the non-Korean fans are truly starting to believe that TREASURE is a Japanese boy group at this point"
"LOL people are now going to think that all the members in the group are Japanese"
"This is why people are hating on YG"
"I don't know why they had to remove the islands in the first place, though. It's not like they color-coded the lands on the map to differentiate the two countries"
"I'm not gonna buy this"
What are your thoughts?
Lol, I've looked up Dokdo, it's a couple of largish rocks, how the hell are they supposed to show it on a map that scale, it's tiny and it's not like they're going to be doing a gig there.
.
If you look at Google Maps on a large enough scale to see Japan and Korea, it vanishes completely.
