On October 29, Eric Nam released a statement in response to the heavy criticism he received after he pressed "like" on an Instagram post regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Eric Nam received heavy backlash after he was seen liking a post by Jordan C. Brown-Underwood. The Instagram post expressed a stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict. The post read, "It is absolutely reasonable and logical to be opposed to the Israeli government's treatment of Palestinians WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY calling for the protection of Jews in Israel and around the world."
After Eric Nam was discovered to have liked the post, the singer received threats, leading him to cancel his performances in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In response to the backlash, he released a statement on his social media explaining his position on why he clicked "like" on that post. He explained, "My liking of that post was a reaction to waking up to devastating news, as someone who has always been pro-human, pro-peace, and for love and equality for all." Eric Nam further explained, "My heart is broken for the Palestinian and Israeli families that have been ripped apart by violence and are facing unimaginable loss. Nothing I say can be enough when there is so much pain and suffering, but I am praying every day that there is peace and safety for everyone soon."
Hamas is shit.
Israeli government is also shit.
You can have both these opinions without being antisemitic or anti-palestine.
