The second trial of former B.A.P. member Himchan, has been deferred. Legal sources on September 6 KST revealed that Himchan's second sentencing for indecent assault, initially scheduled at the Seoul Western District Court, has been postponed to September 25.
The delay appears to be a response to Himchan’s appeal to merge this case with another ongoing one. The former idol had requested the consolidation of trials after being freshly accused of a third sex crime during the first trial on April 3. The latest allegation implicates Himchan in a case of sexual harassment involving a woman in Seoul.
At present, Himchan is serving a prison sentence handed out during the first trial. Charges of sexually harassing a woman in her twenties were leveled against him in June 2020. The incident allegedly took place in 2019.
Throughout the course of the first trial, Himchan vehemently denied any culpability, stating, "While it is true there was physical contact, there was no coercion.” He went as far as to counter-sue the woman, identified as Ms. A, accusing her of extortion.
However, Himchan's defense unraveled when he surprisingly admitted to the charges in April of the following year during an appeals court hearing. His subsequent appeal to the Supreme Court was dismissed, leading to a 10-month prison sentence and a mandate to complete a 50-hour sexual assault treatment program.
