It's always so fun and interesting to see how creative K-pop idols get with their social media names. Especially with the intelligent wordplay that is often present, you'll be wondering how they even came up with such a name. K-Pop idols have also gotten clever and creative with their username choices. Check out some of these usernames that we think are creative! Tell us what other usernames you find fun and creative!
Stray Kids Changbin (@jutdwae)
His username is especially smart if you're a fan and get the reference. Due to his viral meme, he now has the nickname "Man of Principles," which in Korean is Jutdae (줏대), while his SKZOO character’s name is Dwaekki. Not only did he combine the two, Jutdwae (좆돼(다) actually means “to be f*cked” or "be in a bad circumstance."
Solar's YouTube channel is named "Solarsido," coming from her name (Solar) + the following notes of solfège (do-re-me-fa-SO-LA-SI-DO). Additionally, 'sido' (시도) also means 'challenge,' which is what Solar does on her channel, trying new and different things!
SEVENTEEN Vernon (@chwenotchew)
Before changing to @vernonline, his username was @Chwenotchew, and it will forever be iconic. The username comes from his last name, "Chwe," and people see it as the word 'Chew.' @Chwenotchew, you will forever be missed.
Because her name is similar to the Korean word for noodles, myeon (as in Ramyeon, Jajangmyeon, etc.) that's where the noodle came from!
Again, if you're a fan, you'd find this hilarious. The KH in the name stands for "King Head" because of his nickname for having a big head. The 1000 stands for the number in Korean being pronounced as Cheon (천), like the first syllable of his name Chen and the "le" for the second syllable of his name. Hence, reading it all as "King Head Chenle." We love our unserious king.
His actual name is Kim Junmyeon, and myeon means cotton in Korean and... also Noodle, which was why he was also considering @kimjunnoodle. But luckily, he stuck with the other one because cotton just suits him so well!
U Are My Hope stands for the introduction he always does, “You are my hope, I am your hope, I am J Hope,” but it can also read as YOU ARMY HOPE.
On top of it being a weird way of spelling his name, it can also be; when you yawn when you're tired, and the zz has to do with sleeping.
BTS Jungkook (@abcdefghi__lmnopqrstuvwxyz)
He doesn't use Instagram anymore, but this one is another legendary one for the books. The way he had all the letters of the alphabet except for the two that spell his name, JK! Smart!
This is an adorable way of saying, "Thinking about you," but also us thinking about her.
The wordplay in this one is a genius one! Since her name is pronounced like "Eve," the name reads "essential."
Wonho (@iwonhoyou)
The word "wonho" means “to protect,” and so his username means he is to protect us—very Wonho of him to do that.
NCT Mark (@Onyourm_ark)
Who else would you expect something so witty if not from THE MARK LEE? Even his first post caption was GET. SET. GO.
Seungkwan's (pledis_boos) is pretty witty too, but needs more context (his name + parodies the [former] Pledis CEO's IG handle, pledis_boss).
