The ongoing dispute between artist Yoo Jun Won and his agency, Pocketdol Studio, along with production company Funky Studio, has seen further escalation recently.
Yoo Jun Won, who decided not to join the group Fantasy Boys, had his contract revealed by the production company Funky Studio, which is responsible for the MBC audition program 'Boy Fantasy - After School Excitement Season 2.'
Yoo Jun Won was originally scheduled to join the debut lineup of the new boy group Fantasy Boys after winning first place in the competition program. However, he demanded modifications to unreasonable contract terms but claimed that these changes were not made and, as a result, refused to join the group.
Subsequently, Funky Studio announced to the press on August 23 that Yoo Jun Won's departure from the group was due to Yoo Jun Won's withdrawal from activities without permission.
Funky Studio asserted that Yoo Jun Won's departure was due to his parents demanding a revision of the profit distribution rate under the pretext that he had achieved first place in the program compared to other members.
However, Yoo Jun Won's claim differed. On August 24, he posted on Instagram, "I wanted an amicable agreement, but it turned into a very tough fight." He stated, "The company claims that they rejected the contract because of the income distribution ratio, but this is not true."
He continued, "This issue is a very small part of the entire contract process, and the profit distribution ratio was agreed upon as 5:5, and there was no objection to it." He then mentioned, "However, during the process of requesting changes to unfair clauses and asking the company to revise the contract, such as unilaterally requesting a high fixed fee, I lost trust in the company's attitude and ultimately decided not to proceed with the contract."
He also made public the contract offered to him by Funky Studio. The contract states that Yoo Jun Won and the other 11 finalists are required to share fixed monthly costs, including ▲ on-site manager costs of 12 million KRW ▲, PR manager costs of 8 million KRW ▲, content/photo/promotion/A&R costs of 18 million KRW ▲, overall planning/overseas business costs of 8 million KRW ▲, fan manager costs of 6 million KRW ▲, rent (practice room, auxiliary business) costs of 3 million KRW ▲, vehicle rental costs (1 Sorento + 3 Carnivals).
Even excluding vehicle costs, it amounts to 55 million KRW (~41,500 USD). Assuming vehicle operating costs are 5 million KRW, each member would have to pay 5 million KRW (~3,780 USD) per month.
The contract also states that additional costs may arise during individual activities.
3,780 USD "fixed monthly costs" for 7 years long contract with unforeseen revenue lol, not including additional costs may arise during individual activities. On Big 4 or decent mid company, sure, the offering maybe sounds like a great deal, but in Pocketdolls aka MBK aka The-Worst-Kpop-Company? BIG NOPE, All Poketdolls/MBK groups doesn't end well, The boy's earnings would definitely turn into debt.
