With the airing of "Uncanny Encounter 2," the K-drama landscape is seeing a shift towards more supernatural-themed shows. If you have a penchant for blending fantasy with reality, here are six supernatural K-dramas that should be on your watchlist.
1. "Hotel Del Luna": A unique hotel in the middle of Seoul, run by a beautiful and sassy CEO, "Hotel Del Luna" caters to host ghosts a fascinating plotline, and you can't forget IU's style in this drama is just fabulous.
2. "Tale of the Nine Tailed": Nothing is stopping the nine-tailed fox from searching for his one and only true love. As he abdicates his position as the guardian mountain spirit, Lee Yeon is out on a mission.
3. "Hellbound": What would happen if you receive judgment from unearthly beings? Then would you live out your life any differently? "Hellbound" is a dark fantasy series that isn't for the weak-hearted, so forewarning before you watch it!
4. "Uncanny Counter": Considering the fact that there's a second season, you know that this series had to be a good one. Noodle shop employees by day and demon hunters by night; the employees fight evil with their supernatural abilities.
5. "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God": There's only one way to break the curse: Find a bride. But this quest isn't as simple as it seems, for Kim Shin runs into a grim reaper and a plain old student while on this journey.
6. "Alchemy of the Souls": Young mages train to become some of the best in the country they reside in. However, when a powerful sorceress in a blind woman's body encounters a man from a prestigious family... well, things take an unexpected turn of events.
The inclusion of supernatural abilities in a K-drama undoubtedly enhances its plotline. As we approach the year's end, I'm hopeful for an even richer array of such captivating dramas!
Well, what does it say about me that I've seen all of these except The Uncanny Counter (it's on my list). I couldn't get on with Goblin, and gave up after the first episode, but loved the others, and The Tale of the Nine Tailed was exceptionally good, as was its second season. I hope they conclude Hellbound in its second season, it was left hanging, which was annoying.
