On the first episode of Mnet's fierce dance competition program 'Street Woman Fighter 2', all 8 competing crews faced one another for the first time in the battle arena.
In particular, the two participants who drew the most attention from their fellow dancers on this day were Lia Kim and Mina Myoung, well-known for being former crewmates at 1MILLION whose relationship soured over a certain incident.
[SPOILERS AHEAD]
First, in response to the appearance of Mina Myoung's crew Deep N Dap, fellow contestants threw out diss comments like, "She learned everything she knows at 1MILLION" and "It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that her team is a team of 1MILLION disciples."
On the other hand, Mina Myoung herself had harsh criticism to direct toward the leader of 1MILLION, Lia Kim. "They say that she made the choreography for Sunmi's 'Gashina'. But it wasn't her. It was Tina," the dancer pointed out.
Later on, Mina Myoung and Lia Kim directly confronted the issue surrounding their soured relationship, after dancing together for 10-years.
Mina Myoung revealed, "She was like family to me, and I loved her as family. But I don't think she treated me the same way. All I wanted was one thing. Better pay for my base choreos. But I never got a pay raise during those 10 years."
Lia Kim had a different perspective on the issue, as she shared, "Payments for choreography is typically split half-half if created by a team. It's not like I took the full half for myself either. I didn't have any problems with Mina Myoung, and it's not my fault that the client specifically asked for me to serve as the director, but they seemed to think that I was somehow snatching up all opportunities from them."
However, Mina Myoung jabbed, "I question if her appointment as the head choreographer was fulfilled 100% through her own efforts."
To this, Lia Kim answered, "As a choreography director, my job is to evaluate whether or not the choreography is well-done, or if it could use improvements. Quality assurance. Is that not 'effort' enough?"
Not backing down, Mina Myoung continued her criticism with, "If you're the choreography director, then you should say that you're the director. Not the choreographer."
Lia Kim also could not help but raise her voice as she remarked, "It was a collaborative effort. I had my part in it. Did I steal anything from anyone?"
I think the original instructors for 1Million were some of the best dancers in Korea (that includes Hyojin Choi and some others such as May J Lee and Kasper). I never cared for the drama in these competition shows. I just hope it's not bc of MNet egging these two on.
