Earlier this week, GOT7's Jay B came under fire after it was revealed that he had sent Instagram DMs to a woman, seemingly attempting to "pick her up".
The conversation exchanged between Jay B and the woman is as follows, with the woman's own commentary added on via her story posts:
(Jay B, responding to an image of cookies posted by the woman): "Pick."
(Woman): "Gasp... They're 10,000 won each hehe."
(Commentary): "Had no idea how to respond to a celebrity, so this is what I said.."
(Woman): "What do you mean?"
(Jay B): "I guess you're just now seeing the reply to your story."
(Woman): "Oh, you sent a reply to one of my stories? I didn't see it til now TT."
(Jay B): "I'm glad you saw it even if it's a little late kekekeke. What are you doing today?"
(Woman): "I have nothing going on so I think I'll be at home hehe."
(Jay B): "It seemed like you go to clubs often. No? Lol."
(Woman): "OMG. Do I look like someone who goes often? Kekekekeke."
(Jay B): "Just from your story posts!"
(Woman): "Kekekeke You saw my stories. I've just been going recently."
(Commentary): "For some reason, we are chatting."
(Woman): "I enjoyed 'Dream High 2' hahaha."
(Jay B): "LOL wow that drama brings back memories... How old were you then?"
(Woman): "I was probably in my first year of middle school!"
(Jay B): "What do you do in your free time?"
(Woman): "I work, and hang out with friends haha. Did you come across my Insta by chance?"
(Jay B): "Yes yes kekeke. I just saw it by chance."
(Woman): "Haha aren't you busy these days?"
(Jay B): "I'm doing social service... so I have no reason to be busy at all lol. Are you busy?"
(Commentary): "I wonder if he's chatting me up since he's feeling bored doing social service."
Seeing the exchanges, many K-netizens frowned upon the K-Pop idol, suspecting that this was "probably not the only instance".
Meanwhile, it seems that some fans took up the issue with the woman who originally received the DMs from Jay B. In response, the individual has issued a statement asking fans to refrain from exacerbating the situation further, explaining that her Instagram story posts were not intended for public viewing:
It looks like a normal “I'm bored out of my mind” conversation? Even if he's talking to multiple people. As long as he's not being weird.
But also, you went public, so why are you complaining about the attention you likely KNEW it was going to get?
