Former SISTAR member, Soyu recently shared the intriguing backstory of her collaboration with singer Junggigo on the hit track "Some," which was met with overwhelming love from fans.
On July 26, the YouTube channel 'HeyNews' aired the 44th episode of 'King News Show,' featuring host Kang Ji Young, who delved into the topic of rumors surrounding the former SISTAR member. She raised a question to Soyu about the alleged coercion behind her numerous collaboration projects, asking how many times she had been forced into such activities.
Soyu firmly responded, "Never. Typically, offers come in or the company arranges them... forcibly. In the case of 'Some,' it unexpectedly came about within two weeks. So it went like this 'If you go into your email, there is a song, and your part is the one without the melody.' Then, I made the melody in the recording studio while writing the lyrics. That's how 'Some' was created." she explained.
Reflecting on that time, Soyu confessed that it was a challenging experience, and tears were shed during the recording process. She shared, "So I cried a lot in the recording studio. Because it was so hard. I tried this way, that way so it was really hard. On top of that, I had to go on a diet."
"Some" was one of the most successful collaborations between artists. Soyu and Junggigo released the song in 2014, and dominated various music charts for an impressive 62 weeks.
In other news, Soyu recently unveiled her second mini-album, 'Summer Recipe,' on July 26. The title track, "ALOHA (Feat. Bora)," captures a lively atmosphere with its cheerful lyrics and Soyu's superb vocals. Duble Sidekick and Chancellor produced the song, and it also features a special appearance by Bora, who was once a fellow SISTAR member, creating an incredible synergy.
