Popular YouTuber connected to Drug Charges with actor Yoo Ah In Handed Over to Prosecution

AKP STAFF

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's drug crime investigation unit announced on July 17 that it had handed over a 30-year-old YouTuber named Kim to the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office's Violent Crime Investigation Department, following investigations as an accomplice in drug charges involving actor Yoo Ah In. Kim was sent to prosecution without detention.

According to the police, Kim is accused of violating the Narcotics Control Act by smoking marijuana while traveling in the United States with Yoo Ah In and four other acquaintances in January.

A report by DongA Ilbo on the same day stated that Kim had largely admitted to the charges during the investigation.

Kim is a popular YouTuber with over 300,000 subscribers, known for uploading vlogs and other content.

Additionally, Yoo Ah In is accused of smoking marijuana with another YouTuber, identified as A, who graduated from an art school, as well as an American national. Notably, Mr. A is currently in France, despite measures taken by the police to invalidate his passport.

On the 9th of last month, Yoo Ah In was sent to the prosecution without detention on charges of administering eight or more types of drugs. The court dismissed the warrant, citing difficulty in concluding the possibility of fleeing, and dismissed the necessity for the arrest. The court also took into account Yoo Ah In's admission to the basic facts and self-reflection on smoking marijuana, which led to the dismissal of the warrant.

The police initiated the investigation based on records received from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, which indicated that Yoo Ah In had administered more than 4,000 ml of propofol on 73 occasions in 2021.

Subsequent analysis by the National Institute of Scientific Investigation revealed the presence of four types of narcotic substances, including hemp, propofol, cocaine, and ketamine, in the hair and urine samples of the individuals, including Yoo Ah In. Further charges were discovered through medical records obtained during the investigation, indicating that Yoo Ah In had also administered zolpidem, midazolam, and alprazolam. In total, it was revealed that more than eight types of drugs had been administered.

Zolpidem, midazolam, and alprazolam, all perfectly legitimate prescribed drugs for treatment of chronic anxiety and insomnia. Propofol is an anaesthetic, he couldn't have taken that either without medical help, and a prescription. He denied ever taking coke. The more I hear about this case the more I think the SK police are stretching it as much as they can, and beyond a coerced confession they've got nothing much.

.

So the one they've picked up now smoked weed in the States at some point, he didn't even have it with him when he came to SK?

.

Mr A is an American national, who is currently in France - so how did SK get to try and invalidate his passport? Why would SK be after an American who smoked weed in the States?

.

This is getting to be something of a witchhunt isn't it? It's getting very confusing. I think someone is working very hard to bag a celeb, because the amount of resources they must be expending on this can't be worth the return, it's nuts.

Are zolpidem, midazolam and alprazolam narcotics? nonsense. After suffering covid, I slept for 1-2 hours, the doctor prescribed these medicines for me. Alprozalam did not help, they prescribed zolpidem, which helped, but not for long. There were side effects. I had to change to midazolam. Now I take the fourth drug (I do not advertise). Only by necessity. These drugs did not cause me addiction. But my work is not as nervous as that of artists, where everything is based on nerves. These medicines are for those who have trouble sleeping. Yoo Ah In and other artists who were caught taking drugs complained that they couldn't sleep. This is a big problem. They need help, not condemnation.
