It is rumored that discussions to renew her contract have not been fruitful, with both sides unable to reach an agreement. YG Entertainment is hoping for a resolution before the contract expiration date, but the differences between the two parties seem to be quite significant.
Recent speculation about Lisa's contract first arose from a Chinese source. A Chinese agency that requested anonymity said, "We have been coordinating YG and Lisa's schedules, but it is difficult to discuss the schedule after August because the renewal of the contract with Lisa is unclear."
On July 12 KST, YG responded to the rumors stating, "It is because of the tour and personal schedules, and it has nothing to do with the contract status." Although the label did not give a clear stance on the contract renewal, YG acknowledged that it recently arranged Lisa's schedule through the Chinese agency.
In contrast to Lisa's situation, YG's contract renewal process with the other three members of BLACKPINK is reportedly progressing more "smoothly". An insider confirmed that the differences between the parties have been narrowed, and it is likely that all three members will renew their contracts with YG.
