Source Music stated that the agency will be taking legal action against the malicious commenters of LE SSERAFIM.
On June 29, Source Music stated on Weverse, "We are actively pursuing legal action against individuals who engage in malicious behavior such as defamation, insults, sexual harassment, spreading false information, and slander against LE SSERAFIM."
The label added, "In a recent effort to bolster the safeguarding of artists' rights and interests, we have implemented an enhanced system aimed at monitoring malicious posts in real-time while gathering substantial evidence. Notably, posts and comments containing sexual harassment have been explicitly included as prosecutable offenses under obscenity laws governing communication media. We regard the abhorrent act of manipulating an artist's portrait with explicit content, followed by its production and distribution, as an exceptionally grave offense. We unequivocally denounce such actions and are committed to pursuing vigorous legal action against those responsible."
Source Music continued, "We wish to inform everyone that our resolve remains unwavering when it comes to taking resolute legal measures against malicious posts that encroach upon the rights and interests of artists."
Lastly, LE SSERAFIM's agency stated, "We will diligently collect and report malicious posts, and pursue legal action against those targeting LE SSERAFIM on a regular basis. We earnestly request continued engagement and active reporting from our dedicated fans through Source Music's legal response account. Your interest and involvement are greatly appreciated in maintaining a safe and supportive environment for our artists."
Meanwhile, this is not the first time Source Music has dealt with malicious comments. On August 10 of the previous year, the agency addressed the issue on Weverse, announcing a comprehensive complaint against individuals responsible for malicious comments.
Wow, another agency stating they will take action. Bravo!
.
Now we just need to have some prosecutions wend their way through the courts and result in convictions and substantial penalties, with attendant publicity and public naming of the miscreants. That might make people think twice before making malicious and obscene posts.
