Kim Seon Ho met with Sports Chosun and talked about his film debut through the movie 'The Childe' (directed by director Park Hoon Jung) and returning to the entertainment industry.

Kim Seon Ho was finally able to make a comeback about 2 years after being embroiled in a controversy over his private life.

In the film 'The Childe,' Kim Seon Ho plays 'Nobleman,'  an unidentified pursuer who is chasing after boxer Marco (played by Kang Tae Joo). The film follows Marco, a boxer of mixed descent, with his father being Korean and his mother being Filipino. When his mother falls ill, he decides to travel to Korea to find his estranged father, but he quickly discovers that a dangerous group of individuals is pursuing him for unknown reasons.

In the interview, Kim Seon Ho shared his thoughts on his first movie and explained, "I'm excited because a lot of people seem to be anticipating my first film. At first, I wondered whether people would be curious about the movie that I'm going to be in for the first time. I was worried and so I asked people around me for their opinions."

The actor added, "Movies are different. It feels different. It still fascinates me. I also experienced the press release event for the first time and I couldn't watch my own acting. All I can see are the shortcomings. It was interesting for me since this is my first time watching (the film) in a year."

More than anything else, 'The Childe' received much spotlight as it is Kim Seon Ho's first official return to the entertainment industry two years after the controversy.

When Kim Seon Ho gained a lot of popularity from the drama 'Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,' he was embroiled in a controversy when the issue of his private life with his ex-girlfriend surfaced. Due to the controversy, Kim Seon Ho took a hiatus, and his casting in the film 'Dog Days' and '2 O'Clock Date' were rescinded.

However, 'The Childe' decided to go through with the filming despite the controversy, receiving much attention. Kim Seon Ho shared, "I don't know how director Park Hoon Jung felt, but I personally feel sorry and am thankful at the same time. To be honest, at that time, I felt a lot of complicated emotions." He continued to share, "I was told they had a lot of meetings with Studio And New company. Director Park Hoon Jung and even Studio And New CEO Jang Kyung Ik told me, 'We're thinking about going with you until the end, as long as you're okay with it.' I'm so grateful."

Kim Seon Ho explained, "From my perspective, I felt the film became delayed because of me, and I didn't want to cause any more trouble, so I decided to appear in the film. Also, they told me that there is a lot more trouble if I decide not to appear in the film. At that time, I was just really grateful and only had the thought that I must perform well."

He continued, "To be honest, I think I felt very sorry. I felt sorry because I thought people around me will have a hard time and the film will be negatively affected."

During the interview, Kim Seon Ho shared that he was able to self-reflect during the time after the controversy surfaced and was able to look back and appreciate the opportunities that came his way.

He shared, "I still can't say that 'I am okay.' I am just putting forth the effort to become better as an actor and improve myself. I also think that after this film releases and I receive a lot of advice, it'll be the turning point in my life. I'll take the critics and advice and use it to push my self into a better direction as an actor."

'The Childe' is scheduled to be released in Korean theaters on June 21, 2023.

It's nice that the director supported and stuck with him.

2 years after the fact and he still has to communicate in this apologetic and self-deprecating manner. He may as well kick off every public apperance by whipping himself before asking for permission to keep breathing. I can hardly get through reading his interviews. I hope this movie will help get his acting career back on track. Thumbs up to the director and studio for sticking by him and keeping him in the movie.
