Choi Ye Na has recently found herself in the midst of controversy surrounding her latest song, "Hate Rodrigo," with attention shifting to the undisclosed details behind the music video going private on YouTube.
Xports News recently reported that Olivia Rodrigo requested Choi Ye Na's "Hate Rodrigo" music video to be removed.
The controversy has been brewing even before the song's release, primarily centered around the title. Insiders revealed that Olivia Rodrigo's side had raised copyright issues resulting in the music video being set to private on YouTube.
It has been reported that copyright issues arose from certain scenes within the music video, compounding on top of the song name controversy.
Regarding this issue, a representative from Choi Ye Na's agency, Yuehua Entertainment, stated, "We are currently in the process of assessing the situation."
The song itself conveys Choi Ye Na's mixture of jealousy and admiration toward popular pop star Olivia Rodrigo. By incorporating Olivia Rodrigo's name into the title and combining it with the negative term "hate," Choi Ye Na aimed to express her emotions toward the American artist. She explained that the title is supposed to be an "ironic expression."
However, the song faced backlash from many online users, including those in South Korea and overseas. They argued that if Choi Ye Na intended to pay homage to Olivia Rodrigo, it was done with a distasteful approach.
