On May 8 KST, actors Cha Sun Woo and Yoo Ji Ae of director Lee Sang Hoon’s action/drama film ‘Pinwheel’ held a round table interview with the press.
‘Pinwheel’ tells the story of a young man who dreamt of an ordinary life. One day, he saves a girl named Seung Hee from dangerous assailants, only to become entangled in an enormous twist of fate.
On this day, former B1A4 member Cha Sun Woo (Baro) reflected on the uneven path which has described his career as both a musician and an actor. First, he said, “After I first switched to a new company, I really felt the emptiness of not having people around me. Because I lived with the members for so long, when you live with people for a long time you tend to forget how much you cherish them. When I left and started out on my own, there were times when I missed my members and times when I felt overwhelmed, but there was nothing I could do except endure it all on my own.”
Cha Sun Woo was also asked about the possibility of a B1A4 reunion. He responded, “We are all actively promoting in our respective places, such as through acting or musicals. We have discussed the topic of a reunion a few times, but I think at the present moment, the only answer I can give is, ‘I don’t know’. Realistically, I am just not sure when it might happen.”
He added on, “Back in the day, we could pursue whatever we were passionate about. But now that I’m in my thirties, I have my own plans, and so do the other members. If we somehow got the timing right and we could fast-forward our reunion, that would be great, but right now, I’m not sure. But I can say that we all have unchanging affection for our group.”
Finally, Cha Sun Woo also opened up about the roadblocks he faced after finishing up his mandatory military service and returning to his promotions. He stated, “The most difficult thing about coming back after military service was that I wanted to get back into acting right away, take on as many projects as possible to hone my skills; however, the tides had already changed by then, and there were so many younger and more talented actors who could easily take my spot. I didn’t have any work, so I rested for quite a while. I was living with my mother, and I felt self-conscious so I would go out even though I didn’t have any sort of work or schedule. When I was living as an idol for 10 years, I didn’t have a moment of rest. But suddenly, I didn’t have anything or anyone, I just had to get past everything on my own, and I struggled with what it meant to be alone, to spend time with oneself. I didn’t know what to do. But the more time I spent struggling in those moments, the more I developed my own know-how. I think I was able to become healthy again. I also learned that I needed to cherish my opportunities, and nowadays, I love what I do even more because of that.”
Omg hi Baro 😀
