The K-Pop industry will be entering an unspoken period of mourning for the time being, in light of the unfortunate passing of the late ASTRO member Moonbin.
First, music programs such as the April 20 broadcast of Mnet's 'M! Countdown' and KBS2's 'Music Bank' will proceed as planned, but with a calmer tone. Both broadcasts will send out a message of condolence, and performing artists will be asked to wear black if possible. Events such as "On the way to 'Music Bank'", which invites the media, press, and fans to greet artists on their way to record 'Music Bank', will be cancelled.
Additionally, K-Pop artists currently carrying out comeback or debut teaser content, such as iKON, Xdinary Heroes, Xikers, and the newly debuting boy group The Wind have announced the postponement of various teasers for the next few days.
Artists who are currently not in their promotion period, but who have events such as the release of YouTube content planned, have also announced the postponement of such content, such as ITZY or YOUNITE.
Furthermore, girl group LE SSERAFIM has decided to postpone their scheduled recording for JTBC's 'Knowing Brothers' to a later date. Originally, the group was expected to greet the press on their way to the JTBC studio on the morning of April 20, before taking part in the filming later that afternoon.
Singer/actress IU has also asked for a postponement of a scheduled interview with the press related to her big-screen film 'Dream'. Many other affiliates of the K-Pop industry are expected to show their condolences by postponing their events and schedules soon.
Meanwhile, Billlie member Moon Sua, the younger sister of Moonbin, will be listed as a chief mourner during the period of Moonbin's wake along with her other family members. ASTRO's agency Fantagio has confirmed that members Jinjin and Sanha quickly arrived at the wake soon after hearing of the news, and MJ also arrived later after receiving an emergency leave from his military base. Cha Eun Woo, who was in the United States for his schedules, will fly into Seoul on the evening of April 20 to join the wake. Former ASTRO member Rocky is said to have arrived for the wake as well.
