Shin Dong Yup responded to the recent controversy surrounding his hosting both family-friendly shows and a Netflix show about Japan's AV (adult video; porn) industry.
On April 28th, the 59th Baeksang Arts Award took place in Incheon and it was hosted by Shin Dong Yup, Suzy, and Park Bo Gum. During the show, Park Bo Gum commented, "It seems you are staying the busiest among us. You have been in the business for 32 years." Shin Dong Yup responded, "I am a very curious person so I love trying out various things. I like funny things as well as sexual things. I try to take on challenges constantly."
Recently, Shin Dong Yup has been embroiled in a controversy following his latest Netflix show's release on April 25th. The show 'Riseque Business: Japan' is a talk show revolving around Japan's AV industry. The controversy arose because Shin Dong Yup has been hosting 'Animal Farm' for two decades, which is a family-friendly show, not to mention appearing in other family variety shows such as 'Immortal Songs' and 'Amazing Saturday.' Further, his Netflix show faced criticisms for promoting an adult business that is illegal in Korea as well as spreading abusive sexual culture.
But Shin Dong Yup alluded to the controversy during the awards ceremony on this day by saying "I like sexual things and I take on challenges."

Now... If this WAS real controversy... I fail to understand why it matters? It's just ABOUT the AV industry... I get that Porn is taboo in Korea, but this feels like a stretch.As a host, you're only presenting. You don't have to be for it, hell you don't have to agree with the content. Your job is to be the mediate in a way.
