The sudden passing of ASTRO's Moonbin left the K-pop industry in sorrow. Many colleagues are remembering the late idol while comforting one another.
On April 20, TVXQ's Yunho, who had known Moonbin through 'Little TVXQ,' expressed his condolences and wrote, "I will not forget your bright smile and how you shined. I pray that you will be at peace and be happy there." Moonbin is one of the 'Little TVXQ; members who appeared as the child role for TVXQ in the music video for "Balloon." Moonbin had played the child role for Yunho, and they have been keeping their relationship since then.
SHINee members also expressed their condolences through social media. SHINee's Taemin wrote on his Instagram, "I remember how you shined on stage. I hope you will be happy there, just the way you always shined here." Key wrote a lengthy letter on Moonbin's Instagram in the comment section, "I can't sleep even more now that I've said my last goodbye to you hoping you would go to a better place. I sincerely hope that you are happy. Thank you for leaving a lot of records of your past days, Moonbin. The people left behind will be able to live with these memories of you, crying, laughing, and looking forward to the day when they turn the corner and you're there to greet them with a bright smile. You worked hard. And I'm sorry. that I didn't know."
BTS members also joined in expressing their condolences. RM posted a black photo without a caption, and SUGA postponed the video fan meeting.
In place of leaving messages, there are celebrities who chose to follow Moonbin's social media account. Moon Sua, Moonbin's sister, canceled her schedule and became the chief mourner for their family. Moon Sua, who had shown their sibling chemistry on television, followed Moonbin's Instagram and ASTRO members' accounts.
Seventeen's Seungkwan and VIVIZ's SinB also followed Moonbin's Instagram to express their sorrow for their friend's passing. Seungkwan, who has been known to be a close friend of Moonbin, had only followed the Seventeen members' account but followed Moonbin's Instagram after his passing.
On April 20, Mnet's 'M Countdown' also had a moment to commemorate Moonbin. MCs Miyeon of (G)I-DLE and Joohun from MONSTA X were dressed in black and hosted the music program in solemness. Miyeon shared, "There are many people who are going through a difficult time due to the sadness. It is a heartbreaking time due to the sudden tragic news."
Joohyun also shared with teary eyes, "Today is a day where the spring rain that came down in the morning expresses sadness. One of our colleagues who had been with us on stage, laughing and crying together, had become a star in the sky. We will remember Moonbin, who had gifted us with amazing performances for a long time. We will pray once again that you be at peace."
It's so bittersweet that Key's message closed with "you worked hard." That was all Jonghyun asked for in his parting message, and Key passes it along here. Moonbin fans, it's okay to be sad and take this hard, but please reach out if you need help getting through it.
