With the recent success of "Crash Course in Romance" and with the upcoming anticipation for season 2 of "The Glory," school-based K-dramas are becoming all the hype, so here are eight school-based K-dramas to catch up on in the meantime!
1. "The Heirs": Making her way across halfway to the world to find her sister, Cha Eun Sang comes across a handsome stranger, but lo and behold, he's wealthy. In the very end, upon returning back to Korea, she finds that her mother works for his family! A high school based series that dives into the world of the elite, this series is one roller coaster ride.
2. "School 2013": A group of rowdy students. Two teachers. A deadline to make the student's scores at Seungri High School get better; there's nothing stopping the teachers from doing what they can in order to make sure these students prove to the entire school that they can change for the better!
3. "Extraordinary You": When Eun Dan Oh realizes that her entire life is actually a comic, things become haywire at her school as more and more of the students come to realize their lives have been a lie and they aren't actual people!
4. "True Beauty": A high school girl becomes bullied due to her looks and ends up transferring to another school where she earns the hearts of two of the most popular guys at school, but she keeps one secret, will this secret make or break the friendships she has developed? One can only know by watching this series!
5. "Our Beloved Summer": A classic enemies-to-lovers trope, this is perfect. The banter between the two main leads is bound to grab your heart and attention!
6. "Twenty Five Twenty One": Okay, so the ending to this series fell pretty flat, but that isn't to say the majority of the plotline is one of the greatest and most nostalgic storylines within a K-drama. This series is bound to get you feeling all sorts of ways, motivated to go out and achieve your dreams against all odds; you can't beat Na Hee Do's passion and strive to become the best fencer!
7. "Dream High": Taking place at Kirin High School of Art, this drama follows the lives of students as they experience the highs and lows of trying to get their foot into the door of the world of stardom! Aspiring to become the next superstars, this is also a great series to watch to give yourself some motivation to never give up on your dreams!
8. "Love Alarm": Based on the webtoon by Chon Kye Young, this drama centers around a mobile app that alerts you when someone in the vicinity likes you. Downloading the app for the first time, Kim Jojo finds herself in an interesting debacle as her alarm alerts her of a potential suitor.
As many students have now returned for the new school term, the hustle and bustle of high school life bring on new challenges, friendships, and more, just like those within the dramas above!
