As the internal conflict within SM Entertainment's management figures and the heated "acquisition battle" between HYBE and Kakao wind down, Girls' Generation member Sunny's past messages to fans are belatedly garnering attention.
It's been revealed by fans on an online community that Sunny sent the following words to fans via Bubble some time in mid-February, some time after the conflict between Lee Soo Man (who is also Sunny's uncle) and SME's current management initially made headlines and caused a stir in the K-Pop industry.
Sunny said, "There's so much noise in the news these days that every day is just chaos. I'm also learning about these things through the news like everyone else, so there's not much I can tell you. But at the same time, I don't think these issues greatly affect our relationship?"
She continued, "It's true that nothing lasts forever. But if we can just continue to keep one another in our hearts, then that is enough to keep our relationship strong so don't worry too much, and don't be too shaken by what's going on, and let's just stay the way we are like this, simply happy to have one another. Let's just keep it simple and say that we're just spectators, watching a fire from all the way across the lake."
The idol also confessed, "If I had known anything, if I knew anything, I would tell you, and if I had some stocks, I would gladly share them with you but I don't have any SM stocks either. So I just can't tell you guys anything, because I don't know. But rest assured, I would never do anything that goes against the law or morality, and I have always lived with my head on straight, so that I would not become an embarrassment to my family, my members, my friends, and most importantly, so that I would not suddenly become 'the idol that I'm embarrassed to say I used to like'."
Finally, Sunny relayed to her fans, "Let's live righteously with our heads on straight. It's a scary world. But if I have my fans, I feel at ease. And I will also live diligently so that I can make you feel at ease, as your strong foothold. Let's keep relying on one another like this and live on."
Most recently, on March 12, HYBE Corporation announced that it would no longer pursue a complete acquisition of SM Entertainment, conceding the pursuit to Kakao ahead of SM's general board meeting of shareholders, coming up on March 31.
Sunny and all the other members have our full support in whatever decision they make 💓💓💓
