After the reports that BLACKPINK's Lisa had purchased a 7.5 billion KRW (~ 6 million USD) luxurious urban villa located in Seongbuk-dong, attention is being focused on the luxury credit card the idol was seen using.
On January 31, a video was uploaded on Jisoo's YouTube channel, 'Happy Jisoo 103%,' and showed Jisoo traveling around Germany with Lisa.
In this video, the two members were seen walking around a Christmas market (Christkindlmarkt) and purchasing goods from the booths. Jisoo and Lisa both took out their personal wallets and were seen purchasing the items with their credit cards.
Many fans took notice of Lisa's credit card, which was seen in her wallet in the video.
As soon as the video was revealed, netizens gathered in various online communities to talk about Lisa's credit card and directed their attention to the small black card.
The reason Lisa's credit card is gaining much attention is that it is the Hyundai card, 'The Black Edition 3,' which is known to be "invitation only" and owned by only a few celebrities.
The card drew attention when it was reported that Chung Tae Young, vice chairman of Hyundai Card, gifted Lee Jung Jae with a unique VVIP card number in December of last year. Vice-Chairman Chung posted a photo taken with Lee Jung Jae on his Facebook page and said, "We've been friends for 20 years, and he's a precious nobleman who always inspires us with a different level of imagination. We decided to gift him the number 456 to commemorate 'Squid Game'."
Hyundai Card's 'The Black Edition 3' is a high-tier credit card, with an annual fee of 2.5 million KRW (~2,033 USD), and only 0.05% of credit-card holders in Korea have the card. It's invitation-only, and only those with social standing, prestige, and financial means are eligible to be invited. After being invited to own the card, it is finally issued only after unanimous approval from the Approval Committee, which consists of eight executives, including Vice Chairman Chung. The card is limited to just 1,000 people.
In an interview, Vice Chairman Chung said of Hyundai's Black Card, "The number of members has never exceeded 1,000 on a strict adherence basis." He revealed that not only are the individual's wealth and assets considered, but the critical aspect that is taken into consideration when issuing the card is if the individual is a well-respected person. He revealed that only those who have much influence in their respective field may be able to hold the Black card.
In addition to Lee Jung Jae and Lisa, BTS's Jin and Jungkook, actor Jun Ji Hyun and Big Bang's G-Dragon are also known to be black card users.
The idol industry can be absolutely brutal when it comes to the financial ruin it can result in if you don't succeed but my god when you reach the kind of success groups like BLACKPINK have money seems to be a trivial matter where buying luxury goods and penthouse apartments is a drop in the bucket.
