As the year comes to a close, it's time for k-pop fans to be excited as it's time to prepare for the end-of-year awards hosted by various music platforms and broadcasting agencies. It's a time to wrap up the year and see what stars and songs made the year a great year in k-pop!

Winning a grand award in k-pop has become more and more difficult throughout the years, especially considering the increasing competition and variety in the genre. This is a special achievement for many groups and artists as it means that they were one of the most recognized groups of that year. 

Today, we'll be checking out a milestone that is especially difficult to achieve - girl groups that have won the grand award in both MAMA and Melon Music Awards.

MAMA is hosted by Mnet, a subsidiary of CJ Group and the biggest music channel in South Korea, while Melon Music Awards is hosted by Melon, a subsidiary of Kakao Entertainment and the biggest music streaming platform in South Korea. 

As they are the two "bigs" in music, it's no doubt that it is difficult to achieve a grand award in both award ceremonies. However, there are girl groups who were able to achieve this feat, and as the end-of-year season is rolling along, it's worth checking out and recognizing the groups who were able to do it! It's been noticed that it has been becoming more challenging for girl groups to win multiple grand awards in multiple music award ceremonies due to the overwhelming fandoms for boy groups, but these four girl groups were able to achieve this feat. 

We're still awaiting the Golden Disk Awards, in which Girls' Generation and TWICE were the only girl groups able to win from all three music shows, but fans are hopeful that IVE can be added to that list.
