Turn Back Time: A Look At KARA’s Discography

AKP STAFF

Being able to see one of the most iconic girl groups of all time make a return to the scene after so many years is always great to see, and with KARA's announcement of their comeback, fans are even more ecstatic as to what their new tune will sound like. To relive the memories of KARA's great music, let's turn back time and look at an overview of their some of their hit discography (From their debut to 2012)!

2007: Making their debut as a quartet first before eventually having more members, KARA came onto the K-Pop scene with their single "Break It" showing a very vast contrast to previous girl groups, KARA debuted with a stronger female image and a mature R&B sound!

2008: After the unfortunate announcement that Sung Hee was departing the group, Hara and Jiyoung were brought in, making KARA a five-member girl group rather than a quartet. Amongst this change, KARA also took the step to make their music style a bit more different thus came their first mini album, "Rock U." Little did KARA know that this album would lead to their first number-one with "Honey!"

2009: A year later, KARA established their name in the world of K-Pop with the release of "Mister," which became a global phenomenon all over the world with so many people copying the iconic "butt dance!"

2010: Following the immense success of "Mister," from this point on, KARA quickly rose to stardom, but if you thought "Mister" was catchy, it's nothing in comparison to all the following releases they had! Right after "Mister," KARA ended up promoting "Lupin," an edgier and darker concept than what they were used to doing, and "Jumping," which also became super popular!

2011: Release after release, KARA just continued to exceed expectations, "STEP" brought on the party vibes and really got everyone on their feet! Of course, who can also forget the iconic mic move?

2012: After four years of their debut, KARA's hard work doesn't stop there; upon releasing "Pandora," many were shocked at the transformation these ladies took! Showing off a more mature, sophisticated concept. KARA ended up setting the bar high for many girl groups!

It's great to see the progression of how KARA matured in sound, concept, and styles as the year went on, so it's no wonder that they become such great stars! With so many hit releases, it'd be great to see what KARA has in store for fans with this upcoming comeback!

It was *after* all of these songs that I discovered KARA and K-pop in general. I started with the Full Bloom album and "Damaged Lady." I still really love that whole album. The quality of the entire KARA discography is nuts though.

Why skipping Damaged Lady, Mamma Mia and Cupid though? All of them are amazing
