The exciting year-end award shows are coming, and many K-pop fans are filled with anticipation for the year-end performances that are being prepared by their favorite artists.
Earlier last month, the 2022 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) began revealing the lineup of the artists who are to perform during the award ceremony. On the first day, on November 29, Stray Kids, TXT, Kep1er, Hyolyn, Forestella, BIBI, NMIXX, LE SSERAFIM, JO1, KARA, and 'Street Man Fighter' dance crews will be performing.
On the second day, on November 30, the artist lineup includes Zico, Lim Young Woong, (G)I-DLE, NiziU, INI, NewJeans, TREASURE, and (G)I-DLE.
After seeing the artist lineup, K-pop fans couldn't help but notice that no SM Entertainment artist has been included in the list. In fact, there are many artists from other agencies, such as HYBE, JYP, YG, Starship, Cube, and more, but no artists from SM Entertainment.
Many K-netizens were surprised but realized that the lineup is packed with renowned artists, even with those from SM Entertainment. They commented, "The lineup still seems packed even without the artists from that agency," "So interesting how NewJeans and even dancers from 'Street Man Fighter' are part of the performances this year," "But why are there no SM artists?" "It's mostly 4th generation artists," "I'm surprised aespa isn't performing," "Didn't SM and Mnet reconcile last year? lol," "SM probably not attending because none of the artists are going to receive an award," "I wish BTS, Red Velvet, Key, and Taeyeon would appear," and "I think it's because most of the performers are there to receive awards."
Wouldn't be surprised if they're back to beefing, the SM - MAMA beef goes waaay back, over a decade, so i don't ever expect them to fully reconcile
