13 B-Sides You Should Listen To

Posted by optimusnins17 pts Friday, November 11, 2022

With so much new music keep coming out in K-Pop, every day, it's so hard to keep track, we often find ourselves only listening to title tracks, and that's totally understandable. But there are so many hidden gems that you might be missing out on by not listening to their B-sides. These are just some of many, but here are 13 B-sides that you should add to your playlist.

Monsta X - Find You

From the same album that brought the very highly energetic song, Follow, this song is quite the opposite. Find You is a soft, soothing, and touching ballad that highlights every member's vocals, including the rappers, which we don't get to hear often, showing a very delicate side of the group. The music video is very heartbreaking too.

GOT7 - Firework

Off of the group's 7th mini album, 7 for 7, comes this vocals-exploding (pun-intended) song that compares anxiety to a firework that will soon explode and disappear. Another all-vocals song, making the rappers sing as well, is somewhere in between pop-ballad and just ballad. Too poppy to be a ballad but not pop enough to be a pop ballad, so it's just in between. Member, Jinyoung worked on the song and initially wanted it to go on their sub-unit, JJ Project album, but decided to keep it aside for GOT7.

Oh My Girl - Dolphin

You may or may not have known of this song from the Musicbank special stage, Oh My Girl Arin did alongside TXT Soobin when the two first became hosts two years ago. This is one of the group's cutest songs yet. The dance to it is super fun and addictive to do too! Not only was the title track, Nonstop super catchy, but even their B-side also blew up. Some might have thought this was a title track. This special video is actually a compilation of the outtakes from their previous music video, put together at the last minute because of the sudden popularity of the song. Aren't they just the cutest? Oh, My HEART!

ASTRO - Gemini

The final song of their second full album, All Yours, is a beautiful ballad piece. The piano and orchestral influences in this song are just absolutely stunning; it complements the group's delicate yet impressive vocals' so well. The powerful rapping also fits so well in the ballad setup that it managed to show off each and every member's strength alongside the dynamic instrumental.

WJSN - Done

A song off their special single album after winning the reality-competition program Queendom 2, the queens who are known for having so many great B-sides, did it again with Done. This catchy, deep house-base but the soft track would have made a great title track, as the group would have been able to show off their strength and push their sound in new directions. But we're just lucky we still get to have this as a B-side.

P1Harmony - A Different Song For Me

This 4th gen group is known for their pop and super fun songs such as Doom Du Doom and Scared. But in their latest album, Harmony: Zero In, they showed us that they can tone it down and do a pop ballad as well. The soft tone, fantastic vocals, and harmonization create a very warm ambianceThey really took the Harmony in their name seriously because they harmonized so beautifully in this song.

Pentagon - BAD

Pentagon would never disappoint us. All of their releases are no-skips, with or without Hui writing, because they're all talented. BAD is from their latest release, IN:VITE U, their 12th mini album. It is an acoustic ballad that still had a hint of upbeat to it, with extremely clear and clean vocals. This song is way far from being BAD; it's actually amazing.

LOONA - Satellite

From the group's 1st repackaged album, [X X], Satellite is a really fun song that really shows what LOONA's concept is all about. The cute celestial metaphor in this song, alongside the very space-like tone to it, celebrates the group's past motifs and space-themed theme. In other words, this song is very aesthetically pleasing and maybe some of their best ones yet.

SF9 - My Story My Song

SF9 are such Good Guys for releasing this beautiful track. A pandemic summer release, this song was part of their 8th mini album, 9loryUS, which brought the super fun title track, Summer Breeze. After a mix of high-energy and summer anthem tracks, the group closed the album with My Story, My Song, a very heartwarming ballad, promising fans that they will continue to be with them.

EVERGLOW - Hush

Despite the album being named Hush, the title track for it is the more famously known, Adios, whereas Hush stays as a B-side. Just like the name suggests, the song is quiet and stripped down but has a melodic and almost ethereal sound to it. If anything, it kind of reminds you of Owl City's Firefly. The soft and high-pitched EDM instrumental combined with the girls' distinctively beautiful vocals makes this EDM lullaby just pure perfection.

CIX - Everything

From movie star to jungle, and cinema, CIX has always shown different sides of them but somehow still sticks to what sounds like them. Everything is an acoustic pop track, which beautifully and clearly highlights each member's vocals. The smoothness of the vocal and the rough rap that complements it all, make it so easy to become lost in the song.

WOODZ - Tide

WOODZ is known for being an all-rounder and making incredible music in various genres. After an energetic title track for his mini album Woops!, he toned it down with Tide. This sentimental, soothing ballad with a warm and soft-tempo ambiance showcased more of his vocal abilities, which not only has he proven throughout this mini album but essentially his entire career. It didn't make the list because it was a single and not a B-side, but do check out his other song, Different.

fromis_9 - Airplane Mode

The synth and sweet vocals in this track have to be one of the girls' best masterpieces yet. Fans agree that this song absolutely slaps, and especially with how fresh sounding and clear the vocals are, it is a song that makes me want to just put my devices on Airplane Mode and get lost in the song.
