K-pop groups are becoming more versatile, well-rounded, and overall more talented. Even just a few years ago, it was not as common for k-pop groups to be composing and writing their own songs; however, as time evolved, more stars are taking part in songwriting, and it's really changing the culture of k-pop.
Instead of singers, they can now be viewed as artists and musicians (not to say they already aren't one), but it really makes these stars stand out amongst the many, many k-pop groups that are debuting nowadays.
Today -- we'll be taking a look at some tracks that the group members participated in songwriting and composing. It is especially meaningful because they are able to sing the thoughts they want to express themselves, and it also illustrates a new talent in a way that they've never been able to convey before.
So, without further ado -- let's check out these fantastic songs, and make sure to let us know your thoughts on these songs as well!
(G)I-DLE - HWAA & Latata
We already knew Soyeon was extremely talented, but she was the songwriter for not only the famous "HWAA," (which wasn't initially the title track, but she made it happen), but she also wrote the group's debut song as well! And we already know Soyeon is the producer of pretty much any (G)I-DLE track!
SEVENTEEN - Rock with You
Woozi composed this very popular song of SEVENTEEN, and it is already well known that members of SEVENTEEN partook in a lot of their songwriting, even beginning with their debut album. VERY NICE!
WINNER - Everyday & Really Really
Seungyoon & Mino took part in writing "Everyday," and the members of WINNER are already famous for their songwriting skills - Yes, the famous "REALLY REALLY" was also written by the group themselves.
MAMAMOO - Dinga Dinga & HIP
Everyone loves a good Mamamoo song as it gets them LIT, and it's always a grand time with MAMAMOO. But did you know Hwasa wrote the songs for both "Dinga Dinga" and "HIP"? No wonder these songs were phenomenal!
Block B - Yesterday
ZICO is already well known for being a great singer-songwriter, but did you know Park Kyung also took part in songwriting their famous "Yesterday?"
BLACKPINK - Lovesick Girls
The highly talented ladies of BLACKPINK can't be off this list -- Jennie proved that she is all-rounded after she took part in the songwriting of their hit song "Lovesick Girls."
Examining this list just gives us k-pop fans more confirmation that k-pop is becoming more and more filled with huge talents and that the future of k-pop is extremely bright ahead of us. Back in the day, it was easy to just sing and perform a song that a composer or producer wrote, but the requirements are becoming more selective. With that being said -- how impressed are you with these groups and songs? Were you surprised at any of the groups on the list? Or is there one that we may have missed out on?
