NewJeans' makeup artist explained her team did not style the group for KCON Japan.
On October 15th, NewJeans performed at the 'KCON 2022-Japan' in Tokyo. Their hair, makeup, and coordinated outfits verged upon a colorful mishmash, unlike their usual style. Shortly after their appearance at the show, netizens shared their polarized opinions over the group's stylistic choices.
As the group faced more negative feedback, their makeup artist spoke up on her Instagram. She wrote, "After reading multiple comments and opinions overnight, I believe it's best to clarify. NewJeans' makeup for KCON Japan is not related to me or our team and it is not my work."
Meanwhile, NewJeans performed on the second day of KCON Japan, along with other groups such as IVE, TXT, DKZ, and more.

The fact that she had to clarify this must mean that fans absolutely hate this look enough to spam her. It definitely comes off as pretty tacky but i think it was intentional :/
