Korean-American singer and rapper Jessi recently concluded her first-ever solo show in Manila, Philippines. At the SM Mall of Asia Arena on September 30, Jessi ended the month of September with a huge milestone in her career.
Due to the heavy traffic on the show day, 'Zoom in Manila' was delayed for an hour, as some of her Jessi couldn't go to the venue on time and wait for all her fans to arrive.
Before the show, Jessi attended a press conference, where she answered some questions from the press.
Fans scream erupted as Jessi finally showed up on stage, dressed in a sexy all-black ensemble, performing her badass single "What Type of X." Her show then segued into her performance of Refund Sisters' debut track "Don't Touch Me," drawing strongly on a sense of badass attitude.
Gazing over thousands of her fans, Jessi got teary-eyed, saying, "As a solo artist, this is the most tickets they've told me I've sold. Thank you again so much for being here," reiterating how much she loves her Filipino fans.
Next, Jessi spitfires verses as she performs "Put It On Ya," a classic club banger. The rapper then performed Psy's "Ganji," a song featuring Jessi, kicking off the show with a high-energy performance.
"Despite my health problems and all the extreme challenges I've faced...my fans are the driving force to keep me pushing forward," Jessi said. "I may have cried and fallen several times, but it was my fans that helped me get back up... Thank you for your love and energy, Jebbies," she wrote on her Instagram post, thanking Manila for the unforgettable experience.
The following set of songs includes "Numb" from her third mini-album 'NUNA,' "Arrived," "Boing," and "Gucci" from 'Un2verse,' all of which were performed by Jessi and had the audience bobbing their heads.
"I am going through a really hard time right now, but I always tell myself, 'You got this'," relayed Jessi. "There will be battles in your life, but you f*ckin' got this."
During the break between her performances, Jessi shared, "In Korea, I cannot wear outfits like this," saying that most people there are very conservative. "Wear [whatever] the f*ck you want."
Jessi maintained her screw-the-haters attitude as she performed "Who Dat B," displaying both her live singing and rapping abilities. Jessi's undeniable charisma continued as she sang "Down" in husky tones, showing more of the feisty attitude for which she has become known.
The following songs were "Spirit Animal," which featured her solid rapping and invited the A-Team to perform with her on stage, and "Drip," which featured an aggressive and dynamic performance.
Returning on stage wearing a yellow outfit, Jessi got emotional while performing "Star," with the song's lyrics detailing Jessi's journey to stardom, the rapper couldn't help but get emotional as the show marked her first-ever solo concert in her career, a milestone Jessi will not forget.
"I wanted to chase my dreams, and my parents let me. They knew I was gonna fall. They knew I was gonna fail, and they said, 'It's okay to fail,'" Jessi said, adding that her parents are very proud of how far she has become.
Jessi pumped up the crowd with her latest hits, including "Cold Blooded," "Zoom," and "Nunu Nana," for the final set of songs. The rapper concluded the show with a performance of the absolute banger "Ssenunni."
Jessi has displayed vulnerable softness while maintaining her energy and in-your-face confidence while delivering her unrivaled performances throughout the show. Jessi's 'Zoom in Manila' was a fire Friday night, but also a meaningful show for everyone, one of the best shows that both the artist and the audience were looking forward to that day.
