BTS members give their opinion on the recent "purple is BTS's color" debate, Suga ends discussion with "Purple is not (officially) ours"

Purple is a color that has for years represented BTS and ARMY's love for each other and holds a very special place in all of their hearts—ever since V's now-iconic speech made at a fansign speech. "Borahae," the idol said, combining both the word 'purple (bora) and 'to love (saranghae)' together, adding that this new expression means to trust the other person until the end and that they will both love each other for a long time, just like the meaning of purple which is the last color of the rainbow.

This is now among the many expressions BTS fans use to express their love for each other, as well as for their favorite idols. Purple is a color that has for many years helped establish and strengthen the bond between BTS and their fandom, which is why people refer to it as the 'BTS color'—the K-Pop group's name even coming up in most emoji-encyclopedia sites after searching for the meaning that the purple heart emoji holds.

It was recently debated by ARMY whether BigHit should copyright the 'borahae' expression or not; an ARMY took the discussion to Twitter before it was decided among fans and announced by the agency itself that the expression they filed for a copyright that has been rejected, part of it being for the fact that it was 'created by Kim Taehyung and that if anything, should belong to the artist and only the artist himself.

In today's newly released 'Run BTS' episode posted on BANGTANTV's official YouTube channel, Jungkook asked if the room was specially set up for BTS after pointing out how the aerial yoga equipment in the studio was purple. "No way! You matched these to purple, right?" the group's maknae exclaimed. RM was quick to respond with, "you know, this is a kind of illness. Whenever we see purple, is it somehow connected to us? We didn't pay the copyright for purple," before the other members also budded in the conversation. Jin reminded Jungkook that there are so many purple-colored things in this world, to which Suga quickly added, "Purple is not ours."

If not slightly puzzled by this, some ARMYs began to clear up the situation, clarifying that Suga was simply just reminding others that purple is not officially copyrighted under their name and not denying that BTS and ARMY both have a deep connection with the color.

Suga was trying to say that the color was there before BTS, now, the controversy about the word borahae it is a different matter, it does not belong to the fandom to decide who's the real owner, the agency and the artists must to take an agreement
