You probably often get asked, "Who is your favorite k-pop group?" And that sometimes can be followed up with the unpopular question -- "has your favorite group ever gone through a member change?" It's pretty sad, but sometimes, member changes in a group are unavoidable due to various issues. The biggest reason a group may go through a member change is after the seven-year contract term is over, when some members may choose to opt for a different agency. This usually happens when they want to try new things in their careers, such as acting.
However, some groups have never gone through a member change! Today -- we'll be looking at some groups that NEVER went through a member change even after their initial seven-year term. It's impressive how some of these groups can accomplish this -- that means they've wanted to stick with each other through thick and thin. It also shows that these agencies and these artists have maintained excellent relations as some artists decide to leave the group due to challenges with the agency. So, let's go ahead and take a look at groups that were successful in accomplishing this! (Note: Groups must be active for at least seven years).
Shinhwa (1998 ~ Present)
Though they've changed agencies, over the past 24 years, there was never a member change! And they continue to promote as a full group today.
Brown Eyed Girls (2006 ~ Present)
2AM (2008 ~ Present)
BTS (2013 ~ Present)
GOT7 (2014 ~ Present)
MAMAMOO (2014 ~ Present)
SEVENTEEN (2015 ~ Present)
TWICE (2015 ~ Present)
Wow! These groups are impressive for being able to stick with all the members through these long years. Though some groups are not with the same agencies, they have never declared themselves "disbanded" and have been promoting in one way or another, giving hope and great news to fans. Staying together for an extended period of time is definitely not easy, but these groups proved that they are genuinely a family throughout the years.
What are your thoughts on this list? Do you know any other groups that are still promoting beyond seven years that haven't had a member change? Who is your favorite group? Make sure to let us know in the comments below!
I'm sure there are more than this... this feels short.
