Sunmi confessed that she is having a hard time because Zico started the "challenge" culture in South Korea.
In a recent episode of JTBC's 'New Festa,' Sunmi, Zico, Kyuhyun, Yoo Hee Yeol, and Yoon Jong Shin talked about Zico's "Any Song."
During the conversation, Yoo Hee Yeol said, "Zico created the 'Challenge' culture through 'Any Song.'" In response, Zico explained, "I didn't know it would be successful... I just used it as a promotional video. I didn't know it would turn into a culture."
Sunmi then confessed, "I'm having a hard time because of Zico. After 'Any Song,' it became an unspoken rule (to do a challenge video)."
Zico responded, "Actually, people do say to me 'everyone's having a hard time because of the 'challenge' culture that you started.' I'm sorry."
Meanwhile, Zico made a comeback on September 6 with the track "New Thing (feat. Homies)." After the release, "New Thing" entered the Melon Daily Chart at #83 and steadily climbed the charts. It ranked at #10 on September 12 and then rose to #6 on September 14.
Even though it's a short thing, I would imagine that it's annoying for a lot of idols to constantly do a "challenge" with a bunch of different people all throughout their promotions. I think challenges and ending fairies need to disappear. They already have individual cams for each member anyway, so there's no need for ending fairies. Just keep it clean and simple for idols during their promotions.
