On September 1, the mayor of Goyang City awarded five businesses and three individuals for being exemplary taxpayers and contributing a high amount to the financial growth of the city.
BTS member Kim Taehyung, aka V, was one of the three individuals awarded the plaque of merit for being a conscientious taxpayer and contributing to the city's financial expansion.
He was unable to attend the awards ceremony due to his prearranged schedule, so his father received the award on his behalf.
With this, Taehyung becomes one of the few K-pop idols in their 20s to receive an award for being an exemplary taxpayer. He joins other idols from the 2nd-generation: singer-songwriter IU, Girls' Generation's YoonA, and SHINee's Taemin.
Korean netizens on Pann Nate and theQoo discussed Taehyung's recent award. Some of their comments included the following:
"If you're in the top 3 individuals, you're paying a lot."
"Of course, paying taxes is a must, but why did V receive it? According to the news, he paid consistently well, and the amount was large, so the city gave him a commendation because it helped replenish local finances. V did a good job!"
"Father must have been proud of a handsome boy doing pretty things. You raised your son well."
"There are four exemplary taxpayers who won awards, and they're like good men and good women."
"Actually, paying taxes properly is natural, but there are so many people who don't."
"V is cool, I hope he will have a lot of good influence in the future."
"It seems that V is the first celebrity to be insulted (by haters on Pann) after receiving a commendation for faithful payment."
"I thought he was handsome, but he's good at paying taxes too."
A great role model 💜
