tripleS's Kim Chaeyeon sheds tears thinking back to her debut and activities with Busters when she was just 12 years old.
Kim Chaeyeon originally debuted with Busters on November 27, 2017. At the time, she was only 12 years old and was the youngest K-Pop Idol to debut, not including children's groups. Before her debut in Busters, she was a child actress making her acting debut in 'Scandal Makers' in 2008 at the age of 4.
She is about to turn 18 now and will be debuting in the girl group tripleS. She shared her story about debuting young in the idol industry with fellow group member Jeong Hyerin who is 15 years old.
Hyerin asked, "You have been working as a celebrity since a young age, how was that for you?"
Chaeyeon replied: "Thinking about it now, I feel like I wasn't mature enough in some ways. But later on in your life, those challenges become a part of your experience, and it becomes a part of you. So thinking about it from that perspective, I think it really helps. But when I grow up in the future, I feel like I am going to have a bit of regret about my days as a student.
When I was in 6th grade, We were going on a retreat, and there was a talent show at the retreat. My friends and I prepared a dance for the show. But suddenly, I had a schedule that overlapped the retreat and couldn't go to the retreat. Since I was so young back then, I cried a lot. I felt terrible for my friends who prepared the dance together, and I think events like this are going to stay in the back of my head.
In my school yearbook in middle school, I was the only person who didn't have a class photo. I was really disappointed about that; it was a real big shame for me."
Despite being in the acting industry since she was 4 and in the idol industry since she was 12, Chaeyeon decided to continue on the path of an idol because it is her dream.
That is why I think they shouldn't be allowed to debut young kids; it may have consequences
